At the risk of stating the obvious; the amount of time required to produce an up to date suite of accounts depends on how much time has elapsed since the last time any bookkeeping was done. That statement pre-supposes some work had been done in the first place; often this is not the case.

To assess with any degree of accuracy how long is required we are able to draw on our own experiences of those clients who have joined us over the years.

The perfect world scenario is where a client says;

"I'm looking to start contracting and I'm told I need a limited company".

  1. Utopia! Limited Company acquired within a couple of days, bank account in just over a week, correspondence and data entry done as we go along. From receipt of initial instructions to an established company ready to begin invoicing, 10 days tops.

  2. The other end of the scale? Someone who has actually started contracting two and a half years previously, never bothered to open a business account and has not even appointed officers of the Limited Company he/she bought from a newspaper advert.

    Letters from Companies House and Revenue collection agencies are ignored and the individual responsible for the shambles moved house every few weeks.

Costs to client in scenario ONE are minimal; say £50 plus disbursements.

Costs to client in scenario TWO are a very different matter. Letters need to be written to all and sundry and many calls need to be made to satisfy Revenue Collection Agencies that remedial work is being undertaken.

Accountancy Services make large fees from such a scenario but would rather have a new client at the beginning rather than when matters are at a point were much time, effort and money is needed to remedy a situation.

In conclusion let us say this; whatever your situation, don't panic. Talk to us by contacting Probury direct with a brief overview on who you are and what you are striving to achieve. Nothing will shock Probury and we do not make judgements.

Following a brief initial conversation Probury will put in writing what is needed to bring the situation into line, how much it will cost to do so and how long it will take.
